Most of us remember our own school photos — rushed, awkward, and maybe a forced head tilt. The kind you tuck in a drawer, not frame on the wall. That’s the experience I’ve set out to change.


When I photograph preschoolers and daycare kids, I’m looking for connection — something honest, relaxed, and true to who they are. Because a great school portrait doesn’t just show what a child looks like — it captures who they are in that fleeting moment of childhood. I’m not just clicking the shutter and moving on.

So, what makes that possible?


It starts with the way I approach photo day. My setup is simple and timeless — no busy, distracting backdrops. Just a plain, neutral background that keeps the focus right where it belongs: on the child. These portraits will never go out of style.

I take time with each child, working gently and at their pace. Some kids are ready right away; others need a little space or a silly joke before we begin. That’s all part of the magic.


If a child is feeling silly, I’ll capture the giggles. If they’re shy, I’ll give them time to settle in. The best portraits come when kids feel safe — when they’re seen, not rushed. My goal is always to capture each child as their truest self.

Each family receives a gallery with at least three diverse portraits, showcasing a range of expressions. All images are delivered in both color and black and white, so parents can choose what resonates most.
